World Vision “Girls’ Night Out” at St Paul’s Church, Kingston with Carrie Grant and Jo Enright
I  had the great pleasure to be commissioned by World Vision to be the photographer for the “Girls’ Night Out” at St Paul’s Church, Kingston upon Thames last Saturday night.
So what is the “Girls’ Night Out” all about?
The aptly-named ‘Girls’ Night Out’ is fronted by vocal coach to the stars Carrie Grant who is perhaps best known for her starring roles on TV talent contests Pop Idol and Fame Academy. Currently she’s a regular guest presenter on The One Show. Besides working as one of the country’s leading motivational speakers, Carrie is a personal voice coach to stars such as Take That, Will Young and Gwyneth Paltrow.
Girls’ Night Out also features a stand-up set from female comic Jo Enright, for more than a decade, crafted a completely unique style of stand-up comedy. Jo thrives on live theatre performances, and has won several awards. She is also in demand as a character actress, having appeared in I’m Alan Partridge as well as Peter Kay’s Phoenix Nights and, Ricky Gervais’ Life’s Too Short. The event invites women of all ages to be entertained, treated and inspired. Every woman receives a goodie bag to take home, thanks to Cadbury and other sponsors, and complimentary drinks and cupcakes are served during the interval.During the show Carrie and Jo talked about their visit to Uganda, to see World Vision’s work.Carrie said:

“This was my second trip with World Vision but I was still shocked by how tough life can be for some people. We met one woman who had been abused by both her father and her first husband, before contracting HIV from the second man she married. Luckily World Vision is working in her community to help people with the illness access better healthcare and find new, sustainable ways to earn a living.”

For Jo, the highlight of the trip was meeting her 11-year-old sponsored child, Musa.

Jo said:

“It was great to see first-hand how my sponsorship is benefitting real people. Thanks to the projects World Vision has set up, Musa and other children in his community have now got access to better education and are learning how to protect themselves against some of the most serious types of harm, like child abuse and child labour. I hope the stories we tell during Girls’ Night Out will inspire women to help children like Musa, in some of the world’s hardest places.”
