The 1st February – so where did January go?!?ย I have had such a relaxing time since Christmas as this is my quietest time of year and I have loved it! I have also had the great privilege of speaking within the business school at the largest photography convention ย in Europe calledย “The Societies” a couple of weeks ago but I will dedicate a whole blog post to that very soon.ย Today has been a whirlwind of calls, opportunities, shoot bookings and my son’s interview at Esher College in Thames Ditton – it seems like yesterday he started nursery! So to write a blog post has been later than planned today. ย So here is the post about aย Wimbledon family photography session in the park.
I had an opportunity in January toย archive all my 2015 photography sessions and itย has been great to see all the wonderful clients I have had over the last 12 months. Iย would like to talk about this particular family who are gorgeous! The boysย were reallyย well behaved but lots of fun and the parents were veryย open to ideas I had for the shoot. ย I sometime think people think that I am quite mad when I ask them to do strange things but when they come to see the images they understand why….
Preparation for a Portraits in the Park Family Photography session
Before a Portraits in the Park photography session I always emailย a “what to wear guide” a few days before the session which has common sense hints and tips on how to prepareย for the shoot. ย I must admit this family really did very well. ย It is only when I get home and download the images that I can see the impact of the choice of clothes . ย One thing I recommend to assess the choice of clothes that my clientย lays out everything on the bed to see if there are any major clashes and that the colours have a harmonious flow.
As part of my time with a family I do like to take photographs of the parents together as it is usually the case that they haven’t had a photograph taken of themselves for a very long time.
I always ask for the children to bring something on the shoot to play with and the family love tennis so they showed me their moves…. Dad showedย me too!
The family loved the images and they bought my Marcello Collection which included a Rossini album which I know they will treasure for ever.
Booking your family photography shoot for 2016
Looking to this year – I am already 30% booked for my family shoots (based on previous yearly averages) and the “Portraits in the Park” sessionย has been so popular overย the last few years and with March, April and May almost booked I am now taking bookings for June and July. So if you are thinking of having a family photography session then please get in touch with me soon.
