Don’t you think that the year is going far too fast already we are now into March! Happy St David’s Day btw! There is a theory that the more mundane a routine is the quicker the times goes than if we pack our days with different things time seems slower. It has nothing to do with getting older and the years are going more quickly…..
Mother’s day is next weekend (for the UK) and it is a time where us mummies can be spoilt and told we are loved and appreciated.
My son, Peter, is 13 in two weeks (we share the same birthday) and the times that our birthdays have landed on Mother’s Day! What do we celebrate first? Being a mum I say – Peter’s birthday!
So who takes photographs of Peter and me – we do! and sometimes Mr Armitage… We have taken many “self portraits” of ourselves but I suppose it would be lovely to have someone I trust and respect as a photographer to take images of me and my boy….my beautiful boy – even if there are few spots appearing now – on both of us!
And who is taking photographs of you and your family? Those special moments of cuddles, laughter and love. If you have just come across my work then I must tell you that my heart is in my photography and to make individuals as comfortable with me as possible is my goal. To be relaxed in front of the camera is the biggest single thing I can do for my clients so that the images are as natural and beautiful and that the shoot experience is fun and enjoyable. I have many clients who are really good at taking photographs but they need me to tell the story of their love for each other.
I have been having headshot sessions at Warren House once a month now for quite a while and I do believe that I have learnt so much from seeing people’s fear about having their photograph taken, particularly women! So it is my mission to get more mums in front of the camera and enjoy it. Would it be corny to suggest that a really lovely Mother’s Day present would be to buy her a “Portraits in the Park” shoot with a complimentary gift and it can be bought here? No, I don’t think so….. I have seen women who have put their families before themselves and not think they are beautiful become confident again when they see the images that I have taken of them and it has been such a delight for me to show them that they still have something very special.
