Family lifestyle photography shoot in Southwold, Suffolk

A client of mine said to me one day,”Annie how would you like to come and visit us in Southwold in the summer and capture one of our most favourite places?’ This was going to be the 3rd photography shoot with them and so I jumped at the chance as I have always wanted to go and because they are such a lovely family to work with I knew that it would be a great expereince.

I arrived the evening before the day of the shoot and to settle into my hotel and plan what needed to be covered the next day.

It was raining….. there was nothing to be done but wait for it to subside and then we went out.  We started at St James’ Road sweet shop and the girls filled their  little pots with assorted delights from the pic n’mix.

As you can see it was quite wild and woolley for an August day! But oh my the images! The darkness of the skies, angry sea – this was certainly going to be a family session with a difference.

One of their favourite things to do is visit Southwold Pier with all the quirky shops, art work and “The Under the Pier Show” which involved innovative side show type activities including The Expressive photo booth with the end result that you have one of the images belonging to the previous occupants! Hysterical!

It soon began to brighten up as walked along the board walk and the blue skies with the pretty colours of the beach huts was something I had only seen in books or magazines – I was very much in my element in capturing a very British past time of being “beside the sea”.

In the early evening it is a real tradition at some point in holiday to go for fish and chips – just loved it here so much to photograph!  As you can see a sausage featured as one of the girls didn’t like the batter on the fish….

I was due to leave the following day as I had to get back to start arrangements for my 50th Birthday party but I still needed to get the quintessential beach hut shots with making sand castles on the beach and of course going off and crabbing!  All within a very short time I was able to get the missing shots to complete the story of my time with this fabulous family.

They have bought an album and wall art to have a memento of a part of their lives which is a memory that they want to preserve  not only for themselves but the girls.
