Diamond Jubilee Celebration – Kingston upon Thames, Surrey

Hasn’t it been a wonderful weekend!  I am so proud to be British and the feeling of communities coming together has been so tremendous!

I am a networker, love to bring people together but I have been too busy to organise a street party for my road which has very typical Victorian villas and semi detached houses – I do have a pang of regret!

One of my clients told me that her road was looking for a photographer to document and when I realised that it was my friend Lucy who was one of the organisers I contacted her straight away however, they had already appointed one for The Job!  But, she knows my work and said that she would be very happy for me to document too.

Here are my images from the day with just a few comments….

The image above is my most favourite from the day !

The image above again has a timeless feel to it – it could be any jubliee!

As you can see – the sun was shining as the Canbury Park Road Street party took place on Saturday – such a good move!!

I took so many detail shots but the ones above really describe what what was going on.

One of things that I love to do is observe and document it! Always on the look out for new angles, new ways of seeing something which we take for granted.

I was captivated by this lady – the effort she went to was amazing! A glorious sight and she looks wonderful!

We were very fortunate to have a visit by the Mayor and deputy Mayor of Kingston and other local councillors.  There was a prize for the best dressed house and the couple above won!  I love the shot above of the little girl in front of the Mayor and Richard.

There was a wonderful band who played who were actual residents of the road and please check out their website!

These girls above worked so hard making pancakes on the street but they were obviously having lots of fun!

The houses were the most beautifully decorated that I have seen around – but there was an incentive – a prize for the best dressed house!

and of course we can’t forget the Cakes!!!!

Lucy and Sarah who helped organise the event did an incredible job!  Here is another activity which was a Zumba session in the street! Everyone joined in!

We were so privileged to witness the above spectacle of the skipping.  These guys were mesmerising!  Certainly made skipping cool in my book!

I hope that you all have had a wonderful weekend and let us go forward with this hope in our hearts for the future.
